For me, it doesn't get a whole lot better than the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Yes, I'm a little prejudiced because it's home to me, and I'm there much of the time, so there's definitely a wonderful familiarity factor that makes me very comfortable in "my mountains." Beautiful all times of year, Fall is by far my favorite season to hang out in Cades Cove. On the October day that I took this photo, I was delighted to be there when it wasn't overly crowded, and I took my time to go through the eleven mile loop road of Cades Cove and stop often. This shot of a very familiar meadow framed with tree branches was one of my favorites of the day. I digitally enhanced my original photograph a bit to achieve a painterly presentation.
