As our cruise ship prepared to dock in Juneau early on a July morning, this image was my view. Standing on the balcony of the ship, I couldn't help but be excited to explore this colorful capitol of Alaska, backed by heavily forested mountains and nestled under the fog along the shore. We already had some land excursions planned for the day, including a whale watch and exploration of Mendenhall Glacier, and this was the place where others had reported seeing dozens of eagles. By the time the day had ended and we were boarding the ship, I was a happy camper! It had been a wonderful day, and I had spotted so many eagles that I lost count.
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
