Description
Although the Great Smoky Mountains are beautiful all year, certainly the best seasons are Spring and Fall as far as I'm concerned. Nothing like those early spring mornings when the dogwoods and wildflowers are in bloom and the green is as green as green can be. Frogs can be heard throughout the Cove, and little bears are just starting to emerge with their mamas from the dens of winter. Pure, perfect light is the other thing that I love about this time of year. It's as if the whole place has been washed fresh and new and stunning views are available everywhere you turn. This simple shot, taken on Sparks Lane in Cades Cove, catches that light, spring green, and trees starting to leaf out, but not yet fully there. These kind of days bring back memories of wonderfully similar days when you're not sure if you want to run, skip, shout for joy, or just sit calmly somewhere along a stream and savor the moment.
