Description
A few years ago, I never would have thought that I'd become a "bird nerd." I just didn't really understand how much fun it was to watch them until I began to take pictures and realized that there is an incredibly large variety of birds in our area. It take me long to understand, however, that bird photography can be challenging and somewhat daunting for a beginner photographer. They just don't sit still for very long! It's been a journey, and I now know names, calls, and even personalities of many, many of our local songbirds, waterfowl, and birds of prey. I think the cormorant is one of the more entertaining birds to watch with their erratic flapping and very quick movements. They frequently make me laugh out loud! This guy was spotted on the Clinch River at Melton Hill Dam in Tennessee, and in this image he looks like he's giving me a royal pose.
