Description
Mormon Row, formerly known as the town of Grovont, was settled in the 1890's by Mormons from the Salt Lake region. Due to the Homestead Act of 1862, this community was able to establish a presence in the area east of Blacktail Butte. The settlement originally had 27 homestead built close together so that they could share labor and food. In the mid-1990's the whole community was acquired to expand the Grand Tetons National Park, and in 1997 the Mormon Row site was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This image one of the few homesteads that remains and sits at the end of the road.
