What a treat to visit Cades Cove in autumn! Since I live just an hour away, I frequently make the drive to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in all four seasons, but it is impossible to beat fall. This image was taken toward the end of Sparks Lane, and the woods along this narrow gravel road were rich with fall colors, and yet there was still enough greens to make it stunningly beautiful. I love the peaceful, serene mood captured in this image, and the fact the the road beckons you to park your car and take a walk to enjoy the solitude of the moment.

Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures!
