Artist's Description

The earliest archaeological traces of Innsbruck date back to the Stone Age and show that the area has been populated continuously since that time. In the 4th century the Romans established an army post there. As I walked through the old city area, I noticed many very old art pieces that were part of the exterior walls of some of the oldest buildings. I was naturally inclined to take pictures of these pieces and thought I'd be able to identify them online at a later date, since there was no identification on most, and I had no access to information. This ancient looking mosaic of Jesus with a child in his arms is one such object and I loved the combination of the sheen and color and age against the stained old wall. Unfortunately, to date I have been unable to identify the image in a more specific way.

About Marcy Wielfaert

Marcy Wielfaert

Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer! My best days are spent in the mountains enjoying God's amazing creation and trying to capture all things nature with my camera. It gives me great joy to use this medium to share the intricacies of...
