Description
As I anticipated our long awaited trip to South Africa, I knew we would see plenty of wildlife. Kruger National Park was the only place that I had heard of for safari trips until after we arrived in South Africa, and I discovered that there were several other parks on our itinerary. I was so preoccupied with the excitement of seeing the animals that it never really occurred to me that we would also be privileged to see such beautiful and varied landscapes. This image was taken in Kruger and was typical of the land that our guide termed as "African bush." It was overgrown and dense in places, providing the wildlife plenty of places to conceal themselves from the safari gawkers, but it was also surprisingly beautiful land and unlike anything that I had ever seen. Because you are not allowed to get out of the vehicles on a game drive for obvious safety reasons, my landscape images had to be taken as we bounced along on rough roads through some rough areas. In the end, though, I was happy that I had several to illustrate the rugged appeal of the bush landscape.
