Description
As a photographer who most enjoys capturing birds and wildlife, I sometimes travel great distances if I see photos from others who have managed to discover a great opportunity that is within my reach. On a hot August day, I left my home at 3:45 in the morning in order to drive three hours west to Murfreesboro in hopes of seeing a family of raccoons that a friend has disovered in a hollow tree. My goal was to arrive by sunrise, so there was no time to waste. I did, in fact, get hundreds of raccoon pics, but this yellow crowned night heron was an added bonus. He calmly posed for me all the while watching the creek hoping to see some available breakfast swim by.
