Description
If you travel to Prince Edward Island by ferry from Nova Scotia, one of the first things you'll notice as you approach the island is the Woods Island Lighthouse on the southeastern shore. Originally built and operational in 1876, the three storied lighthouse contained a large residential area for the light keeper and his family. Now a museum, Woods Islands was the last lighthouse on the island to house a light keeper, and the last one moved out in 1990. In 2009, the lighthouse had to be moved back 70 meters due to erosion. I chose a painterly enhancement for this image and love the way it turned out!
