Description
A thrill for me came when visiting South Africa recently, and we went to Boulders Beach, home to a large colony of African penguins. These entertaining creatures make this beach their year round home and have become quite a tourist attraction for the area. I find these birds endearing, and it was a great pleasure to spend about 45 minutes with them on a beautiful fall afternoon. I love this particular image out of the hundreds that I took of the penguins because it never even occurred to me that there was a possibility that I would get a shot just after an egg was laid! Although they don't have traditional nests, the penguins dig out a little hole in the sand and place their eggs there. Isn't she the sweetest?
