Located on the Tagus River in central Spain, the ancient city of Toledo was one of my favorites. Vibrant and lively, Toledo's history and culture truly make it one of the can't miss destinations on any tour of Spain. Toledo is home of the famous painter El Greco and has the rare distinction of being a place with a harmonious blending of Arabic, Christian, and Jewish architecture, people, and cultures throughout it's long and complicated history. The Alcazar, a stone fortress that sits atop the hill high above the city, is Toledo's skyline signature from a distance.
