Description
My husband and I arrived at the Garden of the Gods while it was still dark, on an early and frigid January morning, in hopes of capturing sunrise. Despite layers of winter clothing and minds made up to brave the cold to accomplish our mission, my fingers were freezing as we set up our tripods and waited for the first pop of light on the red rocks. I began to feel that there was just no way that the sunrise would be worth my misery, but I was wrong. I had never seen anything quite like it as the sun began to light up this little jewel near Colorado Springs. Spreading throughout the small Garden of the Gods, the amazing light made me forget all about the cold. This image is just one of many that we took that morning. I like the way the green of the trees is interspersed among the rounded rocks, with the silhouetted winter tree in the lower right of the photo. In the end, I figured that I can always warm up after such a shoot, but opportunities to experience mornings like this don't come along that often. Getting out of my comfort zone and making the effort to be out in our wonderful world is ALWAYS worth it!
