A fabulous place just outside of Lisbon to spend a day enjoying the history and culture of Portugal, the resort town of Sintra has an air of excitement as you explore the streets and palaces on a great spring day. Until my visit here, I had never heard of Sintra so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it has much to offer. The city is the home of royal palaces and colorful villas that are tucked away in the surrounding mountains and visible from the city center. Archaeological finds in the area indicate that there were inhabitants in this area from as early as the 5th century BC. My original photograph has been digitally enhanced to create a painterly presentation.
