It's hard to look at the expression of this goofy bird and not smile! These woodpeckers have a comical look about them, but after observing this guy pecking at the fence post intently for several minutes, I've decided they're quite serious about the pecking business. I drove by, stopped, rolled down my window, took many pictures just a few feet from where he was located, and he never even looked my way.
