Description
First established as a Chinese community in 1848, San Francisco's Chinatown is a must-see when visiting the city by the bay. I was surprised to learn that Chinatown attracts more tourists annually that San Francisco's most famous landmark, the Golden Gate Bridge. It also has the distinction of the most densely populated area west of Manhattan with over 22, 000 residents in an area roughly 1/2 by 1/4 square miles. Fish markets, shops, restaurants, and much hustle and bustle is the lifeblood of this vibrant ethnic community. On the day we visited when this image was taken, the morning was rainy and dreary, but the streets were lit up with fabulous color and activity and weather was truly a non factor.
