Description
Being a redhead myself, I must confess that I have a certain affinity for these goofy birds known as pileated woodpeckers. I have learned a few things from observing and photographing them several times, and I know they don't like to be interrupted when vigorously pecking on a fence post. I slowed down as I was driving by just long enough to take a couple of shots from my car window. The looks I got said it all. This one has to be the favorite with his little tuft of red sticking straight up and those expressive eyeballs telling me to move on.
