Pillars and Arches, St. Mark's Basilica Long Sleeve T-Shirt

The Patriarchal, Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark, more commonly known as Saint Mark's basilica, was certainly a highlight of my visit to Venice. It is located adjacent to the Doges Palace in Saint Mark's square and originally was the chapel of the doge. The basilica is considered one of the best examples of Italo-Byzantine architecture and has been nicknamed the "church of gold" due to the lavish amount of actual gold incorporated into the building itself. Incredible Renaissance art is incorporated into the exterior facade in four domed alcoves above the four large front doors. Each of these striking art pieces made out of richly colored mosaic tiles depicts one aspect of the history of the relics of Saint Mark's. A variety of Italian marble is used in the pillars and columns under the domed alcoves and these pillars also flank the huge entrance doors below the art.

Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
