Description
Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Venice, touring St. Mark's Basilica, also known as The Patriarchal Basilica of Saint Mark, was an amazing experience. Opulence, art, architecture, history...all wrapped into one! Located at the eastern end of Piazza San Marco adjacent and connected to the Doges Palace, the most famous church in Venice is definitely not to be missed. Before we entered for our interior tour, I wandered around outside and took many photographs of the very impressive exterior. I liked this image because it shows the many materials and designs that seamlessly combine to achieve the beautiful sacred structure. The amount of breathtaking art that is contained both inside and outside of Saint Mark's is incomparable to anything I have ever seen. I'd love to revisit some day because it's one of those places that is impossible to take everything in during one visit.
