It is reported that Neuschwanstein Castle, located in southwest Bavaria and constructed by mad King Ludwig II as a home and personal retreat, was the inspiration for the design of Walt Disney's princess castle at Disneyland. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his own personal funds rather than receiving governmental funding. He emphasized that the castle was in honor of his friend and idol, the opera composer, Robert Wagner. Built in the late 1800's, it was still incomplete at the time of Ludwig's death. He only slept there 11 nights. Set high on a hill, Neuschwanstein Castle is very picturesque and can be seen for miles around...just as Ludwig desired it to be.
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
