It was our first game drive, and we left the hotel while it was still very dark in order to get to Kruger National Park before sunrise. Excitement was palpable as we boarded the safari vehicles and began our adventure along rough dirt roads leading into the African bush. As we crept along all kinds of eerie sounds met our ears as animals began to move about. As first light arrived and we could see just a little, we noticed that it was very foggy in certain areas, adding to the mystique of this wonderful experience. Just about the time that things cleared up enough for us to see fairly well, our driver rounded a turn in the road and came to an abrupt halt. Oh my goodness! There in the road, right in front of our jeep, was a mama rhinoceros with her baby nursing. We watched and cameras clicked for several minutes until the baby was finished eating breakfast, and that's when I took this photo. Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures!
