Description
Through the years, the iconic Coliseum in Rome, Italy has been used for many different situations including entertainment, military housing, animal housing, games, contests, and even executions. The exterior, with its characteristic Romanesque repeating arches, is recognized by millions throughout the world, but many would not instantly recognize the interior space. The vastness is almost better seen inside, especially if you look across the arena and see how tiny the people are on the opposite side. Even though the ruins are all that remain, it's fairly easy to picture how the place must have looked in its early years. I really enjoyed our tour of this amazing structure!
