Description
In the 1960's the Haight Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco became known as the birth place of the counter culture hippie movement that spread across the United States. Peace and love were the key words of the culture, and the Vietnam war was a topic of great controversy with the country. A clash of cultures between the "establishment" and the "antiestablishment" was characterized by protests and sit-ins and ultimately influenced popular music, literature, and mores during the tumultuous decade. Haight Ashbury still retains the vibe of the 60's and is a great place to hang out and reminisce. This corner diner, Burger Urge, is a popular spot with the district and takes you back a few decades if you decide to stop for a quick lunch or dinner.
