Sitting almost right on the state line between Tennessee and North Carolina is Max Patch, a very special spot in the Great Smoky Mountains that enables any one who can walk just one mile to have a fabulous 360 degree view from the high elevations of the Appalachian Trail. I have visited this summit in both summer and fall, and loved the experience both times. In this image, my husband and I had carried our dinner up to the top where we enjoyed a sunset picnic looking out over these beautiful mountains. The shot was actually taken right after sunset when days end was rapidly approaching and the few who had joined us were lingering to have a few last moments in this special spot.
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
