Description
Nestled in a wooded clearing along the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail just outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is a historically preserved homestead dating back to 1890. In addition to the main log cabin, there is a barn, corn crib, and pig pen on the property that belonged to Ephraim Bales and his family of nine children and his wife. The Bales family resided here from 1890 until 1930 when the property was purchased by the US government as part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
