Description
Constructed in the common "dog trot" style, the Ephraim Bales cabin is a highlight of the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. In addition to the main cabin, there are several interesting outbuildings including a barn, corn crib, and pig pen, that add to the charm of this 1890 homestead. Bales, who owned 70 acres of nearby land, and his wife lived here with their nine children until the government purchased the land as part of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 1930.
