Description
Yet another architectural marvel in Spain awaits visitors to Cordoba, located in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia. Originally built as a massive mosque in 784 AD and named La Mezquita, the building was converted to a Roman Catholic church in 1236 with a Renaissance style nave added in the 17th century. It's amazing how the two distinctly different styles blend and work together with the enormous columned prayer being the first space as you come in the entrance and then moving on to the Renaissance addition. This image was taken in a beautifully natural-lit dome with intricate detail that houses art and icons of the Catholic church...a truly beautiful space. Arches and exquisite moldings adorn the walls with the artwork and treasures of the church being an added visual bonus.
