Description
The Cathedral of Seville was originally built as the Great Mosque of Seville but was converted to a Roman Catholic Cathedral in 1248, when the city was recovered by the Christians. The bell tower, known as the Giralda, is 342 feet high. It takes some effort to make it to the top, but the view of Seville is fabulous. Although I would highly recommend the trek to the top, I wouldn't recommend standing below the bells as they begin to ring. The sound is deafening! This shot was taken shortly before the big event, and I loved the way the light was coming in. The thrill was short-lived, though, because once the ringing started, we opted for a fairly quick exit!
