Description
With a population of 436 inhabitants, Les Baux-de-Provence is one of the most charming villages that I've visited. Set high on a peak in the Alpilles Mountains of southern France near Nice, the town itself dates back to the 11th century, but traces of civilization dating back to 6000 BC have been unearthed in a near by cave. A walled city, once used as a fortress, is now filled with intimate shops, cafes, and friendly people. Spending just a couple of hours here wasn't really enough for me, and I'd love to return some day to this quaint little out of the way location!
