Description
Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River is actually the natural border between the cities of Livingstone, Zambia and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. To connect the two countries, the Victoria Falls Bridge was constructed and opened in 1905. It is 650 feet long and serves as a rail connection, in addition to a road and walk way. George Darwin, son of Charles, officially opened the bridge as president of the British Science Association. Considered an historic engineering landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers, the bridge is viewed in this image from the air while I was on a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls.
