There's more than just the Parthenon waiting for you as you climb the hill of The Acropolis that rises high above the capitol city of Greece. From the top, the view of Athens is fabulous, and there are ruins and remnants of ancient civilization in every direction. While the main attraction is definitely the Parthenon, there are other ancient temples to explore and learn about. I liked this collection of remnants that shows the size and textures of the columns at a little closer vantage point. The contrast of the verdant green grass of spring with the ruins that date back to before the time of Christ cannot be overstated. Standing here it's so baffling to understand how those of ancient times managed to engineer and construct the many architectural masterpieces relative to that time in history. Notice the Greek flag flying proudly in the upper right.
