Description
One of the largest of the Loire Valley chateaus in France, Chateau Amboise certainly fits the bill as a fairy tale castle with its Renaissance and Gothic blended architecture. The chateau is situated high on a hill in the French city of Amboise and is considered a medieval structure. Leonardo da Vinci, at his request, is buried in the small chapel that sits on the property in front of the chateau. He had such fond memories of extended visits at the chateau that it was his desire to make Amboise his final resting place, despite the fact that he was Italian. After touring the chateau, my husband I found a bench under a tree at the back exit and decided to sit for a while and enjoy the view. We happened to be facing this corner, and I liked the perspective that was uniquely ours at the moment so I took a few shots from the bench. This one, with its wonderful texture and detail, called for black and white. For us, on that idyllic day in May, it was a quiet corner, conveniently out of the hustle and bustle of tourists and a hectic touring schedule.
