Description
I never feel more alive than when I stand on Sparks Lane in Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and witness a chilly sunrise. Both fall and spring are fabulous times to be there early and see the light spread across the landscape as it pops from behind the distant mountains. This photo was taken in early springtime which has at least one distinct advantage over other times of the year. You see, in the earliest days of spring, this spot is home to many little frogs that live in the water in the foreground of this picture. They're little, but loud and I can almost hear them now as I look at the image. Locals call them "peepers", and there's no better time to visit than when the peepers are sounding off. It's truly music to my ears because they're proudly proclaiming that winter is finally behind us and once again nature is coming alive with all of the joys that spring brings.
